very very good point, exactly correct, that allowance has nothing to do with us, from what I am seeing from the instructions we will be filing state taxes as normal.

A CPA will know what jurisdictions/forms need to be filed. He probably just did not mention it to you as everything will be prepared with minimal input from you.

 

Side note:

As a CPA, I would say that over 75% of people do not need a CPA to do their taxes.

I would guess that it is assumed when you take your taxes to a tax preparer that he will do both state and federal because that’s the norm. He probably didn’t even think about you being completely new to income tax with no knowledge of a state income tax.

That's true, but as first year after K-1 I wanted the peace of mind to know that everything is done right, the peace of mind outweighed having a couple extra hundred dollars.

I was thinking that too, hopefully that is the case
