Basically seats in the control of the Party machine, get the Party nod and you are in.

Don't know but he did for various sums of money and other items. They had tapes. Remember it involving a lot of players and Jessie Jackson Jr. Big scandal. I'm sure they do it in B'more all the time. Heard this politican in MA got caught by the feds doing big fraudy stuff yesterday. Extorting money and using funds to fuel his gambling addiction while on the taxpayer's dime. No sympathy for people like this.

It's always amusing to see Hugh Laurie more recently as Dr. House. We binge watched the fourth season this weekend. (Lots of lupus misdiagnoses!) 

 

My former SIL may possibly live in what that rotten borough became -- she lives in the Middleofnowhereshire, East Suffolk with many hens and a dog, but not a dachshund named Colin. It's a Norfolk terrier named Pickles. 

 

It's perfectly possible to "sell" a seat, precisely as you set out. Pay off the machine, get the nod, and in a safe seat, you're golden.
