From my understanding, AOS requires a medical exam. Is this exam taken prior to sending out the I485?

Yes, this is the exam "we" just had (I was the interpreter, for God's sake!!! lol). The cost for Lorena was $165 and each of the boys (under 12) was $145 - at least at this doctor. Prices could be different in different places. If all the medical exams are like this one, they are a pi$$-poor effort by our government at preventing much of anything. But, it's done and some bureaucrat somewhere will be happy.

By the way we found the missing documents so no more vaccinations. :-)

Do you need to take the exam prior to mailing out the application?

Also, where is a list of approved Dr's?

Thanks!

Hey Lucho

You don't need a full exam with a K-1 visa, check out the I-485 instruction pages. You only need to have a civil surgeon transfer her vaccination information to a supplement form. The USCIS website has a civil surgeon locater link, you just need to plug in the information. You will need to call around for prices and some doctors insist on a full physical. This is not necessary! Be aware that your esposa may need more shots, since some vaccinations are given in series with a few months in between. She may have received the first shot in Bogota and is due for another.

Bingo to the rest of the shots... Try to get these covered in your HMO/PPO at work since you can hytpothetically add your spouse within 30 days of getting married. That is my contingency for the time being.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

If she can come here without the vaccinations, most are available at your county health department for minimal cost. It may be cheaper there than a doctor's office (if you have a deductible). As I recall, all the vaccination information is available here on VisaJourney. If not, I think it can be found on the USCIS site. If she needs them to travel, and I thought that a least a few were mandatory, they are available in Bogota for minimal cost.

True Charlie

Lucho, did the USCIS agent at POE keep everything in the manila envelope? I think Mària got an extra copy of her vaccination report from the shots she was given, and signed by La Dra González.

15 more days of waiting for moi...

Tony,

Ok I found the vaccination supplement form.

So all we need is to have a civil suregeon transfer the vaccination info to a supplement form??

No other medical exams will be needed??

Thanks

I'm trying to get this packet sent out this week by thursday. Sorry for any repeat questions.

Hey lucho, let us know how much they charge to do this transfer.

I recently had the civil surgeon transfer the vaccination info to a supplement form. I called several doctors and the prices varied from 150 each to 59 each....a course you know which one I chose. As TonyS mentioned for the K-1 you do not need a full exam just the vaccination info transferred. As TonyS suggested to me, bring a copy of the instructions to the doctors office which states the K-1 does not need the full exam should any questions arise.

Tony thanks again for helping me, I hope to have the paperwork finished this week, mailed and post marked on the 30th. I have to say, I saw Tony's file that he prepared for AOS and he should go into the business. It was well organized and impressive. See you Friday at the wedding.

Good- as soon as I get to that stage, I'll post a small list of names and prices for that paperwork shuffle.

Don't you wish USCIS would just ask the US Embassy to include in Packet #4 that supplemental 693a for the medical visit??

As I mentioned in my Drs office report in the other thread, Dra. González decided she had no idea what the I-693 was (I think it may have been something about the 4 pages in duplicate that may have turned her off). I can only imagine that she wouldn't have had a problem with the I-693a, being shorter and all...

Maviwaro,

I believe the officer kept everything at POE.

Fortunately we have the vacciantion report that Dra Gonzales filled out. The only reason we have this is because the brown K1 instructions folder at the embassy stated to leave the vaccination report out of the packet.

Annexo B in packet 4 is different than the embassy folder instructions....lucky for us

You got it figured out now Lucho and thanks Corey for the compliment! Some of these civil surgeons are crooks in my opinion. I guess it it up to them what their time is worth. Unfortunately, there is too much about the immigration process that smells of a revenue generating process.

As I sit here in my office thinking and maybe you may help me out here.

Why in the heck does the vaccination report need to be transfered to another form?? Isn't the Dra's report valid enough? Heck, the US govt assigned her and Dr Roa as approved Dr's to do the medical exam. Am I missing something here?

I'll make sure to keep a copy... in case the POE authorities refuse to give us what's in there. Lucky me my uncle works in Secondary USCIS inspections at MIA so we could always ask...
