Thanks for the congrats. I have seen in other post where people have received RFE's or rejections (based upon the fee increase) when they postmarked the applications before July 30th. Stand your ground and get it corrected.

Good news, received NOA1 letter on 09/10 and Biometrics appointment today (09/11) appointment is scheduled for 09/25.

FYI - my wife and step-daughter received their green cards today......16 days after the interview. Pretty fast, IMO. Hope my AOS timeline will give some of you all an idea of what your looking at.....other than any delays if you filed in July.

I've submitted requests for help from both Missouri Senators, but no response yet. Not holding out much hope that they can help, but at least it might shake a cage or two. Guess we'll start saving our pennies to pay the new fees.

It's an interesting irony that Lorena, who wants to work in order to pay these higher fees, can't work because of these processing delays. Also an interesting irony that our President still wants to grant some type of amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens here, but our government does everything possible to make it as difficult as possible for those of us who want to play by the rules.

Thank you. And sorry you are getting screwed on the fee. Just isn't right, but not sure what you can do.

I do agree with you. There's so much sympathy for illegal immigrants. But after all we go through to have our spouses immigrate legally, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy. We are separated from our spouses for months....yet illegals waltz across the border illegally or overstay their visa.

What ticks me off is the overall anti-immigrant sentiment that if you look at it from a logical point of view, targets both legals and illegals:

1. Make legals suffer by overcharging and delaying their legitimate procedures to emigrate the right way.

2. Make illegals suffer by letting them think they'll get amnesty by leaving now and then going through even longer delays to get back (granted, they are breaking the "law" by being here illegally).

Either way, if you want to come to the USA, either be extremely wealthy, or be prepared to wait... and wait.

Great news today, everyone!!!!

I received a call from my US Senator's office this morning. The lady said she talked to the USCIS and that, with respect to the fee change of July 30, all applications were to be accepted or rejected based on the POSTMARK, and NOT on the date received. All items had to be postmarked BEFORE July 30 to qualify for the older, lower fees. Therefore, I am waiting for a letter from the Senator's office that I will send with my original AOS packet (and check....hehehe) directly to a specific person at the Chicago office.

If any of you are in this same boat or know someone who is, I strongly recommend a direct contact with your Senator or Rep. This bit of good news has saved us $2,300 and perhaps months more of waiting while we saved the extra money.

Now, I only need to hope that I didn't screw anything up on the orginal paperwork!! haha
