Hi, I came to the US with K1 visa and i got married within 90 days. I will apply for my adjustment of status and the EAD with AP. How long it takes to receive the combo advance parople + work permit? I need to go to my home country in the beguining of September and I am afraid to not be able to go for not having the AP+EAD with me.

Thank you!

6 months would be a reasonable guess, depends on how quickly they can be processed.

It is a drawback to the K-1, and the major reason why CR-1 is more suited to most people.

You may have to revise your travel plans.

I realize that.  Hopefully you researched the K-1 thoroughly, unlike the OP to this thread.

These type of threads can also be useful to others searching the forums, since so many seem unprepared for the K-1 restrictions.

I've entered the US and begun the AOS process, filing the petition with the Chicago lockbox PO Box, but it's been over 15 days without a response from the lockbox, an e-notification, or payment being taken from my credit card. I contacted the USCIS Support Center but they can't find any information on my case and said I needed to email the Lockbox Support email which I've now done. However, their automated response email says that a reply from them can take up to 30 business days, of which I only have 35 before my K-1 visa admission period expires.

Is there anything I can or should do to avoid any issues? Since the petition was sent via USPS tracked and was signed for by someone, is this USCIS' fault?

Hi, How long did it take you to receive the EAD + Advance Parole?

No but if you leave without the AP or Combo card you will need to file for a CR-1 and wait over a year to get back.

Seems like you didn't plan the whole process out.

There is a timeline link for every member.  Luckily they filled theirs out.  Just click on timeline under their country flag on the left.

As a new user you should create your own.   Go up to your username on the top left and then scroll down to timeline.

Also you don't need to ask your question in more than one forum.  That is against the terms of service for the site.  You don't need to hijack someone's post either.  Ask you own question in what you think the correct forum is.

Do you HAVE to go back home in September? Is it due to an unforeseen/urgent matter? I’m only asking because I had to go back home due to a family emergency and was granted AP right away. Keep in mind, that my circumstance was an emergency and I had the proof to show it. If that’s the case, I would visit your local USCIS office. That’s what I did - and had all my documents and such with me.
