Can any one help please?

I’m sponsoring my husband. I have a joint sponsor and i know i still have to submit i-846 even though I’m jobless. I know they require tax papers also for the most recent year, but I’m abroad and I haven’t filed my tax return for the most recent year yet. What other documents I should attach with i-864?

Thanks for the reply! I have few more questions if you could tell.

Do I need to submit w2s for 2018 with my i-864 form? And any additional documents ?

Your question can be answered here in the I-864 instructions:  https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

If you submit tax transcripts the W2 shouldn't be necessary.

Thanks!

like you said 2018 is the most recent tax year, so on form i-864 when they asked if you have filed tax for last three recent years?  Those years will be 2018, 2017 and 2016? I think what I did is that I put 2019 2018 and 2017

What if I don’t have it and since I’m abroad I wouldn’t be able to get those?

You send either tax transcripts or a copy of tax returns.  Tax returns require the W-2s.  Tax transcripts do not.....You should probably read the instructions.

If you already filed your 2019 taxes then you are fine for listing what you did.    And that would make your 2019 YOUR most recent tax return

You can request tax transcripts online and print them yourself

Note that there are several kinds of "tax transcripts".  What is needed are tax RETURN transcripts.

Do I have to write a letter to explain why I didn’t file my taxes even if I have a joint sponsor?

And do I have to attach any proofs with the letter?

The answer depends not on why you "didn't" file your taxes but why you were "not required" to file.  If the reason is no income, for all three past years, just hand write in the available space.  "Income below filing threshold".  There are really no other acceptable reasons. If you have another reason, file the tax returns now.
