Hello everyone this is that I have been trying to do research on things for months now but I realized maybe someone on here might know something and have experience. Growing up I understood how very important health insurance is and to be covered. And so I was wondering if there is a way to go ahead and cover me, my husband and my children in a USA insurance plan BEFORE we fly over to the states? I have a address where we plan to live at in the states can I just use that as a place of residence even though were not technically over there? I just would feel more comfortable knowing that me and my family are covered health insurance wise from day 1 back in the states. I've been looking things up but I haven't wanted to start a applying for a insurance plan yet I figured around the time my husband has his visa interview I would start applying? Has anyone else had any similar experiences or any good references to insurance plans or do I have to be IN the states to apply? Thanks so much in advance.

we'd love to do the same, so I'd be interested in replies.  I have found some private quotes, but they're obviously super expensive.  That said, we have multiple friends who have gone from Australia to the US and used Australian travel insurance and been able to be covered.  I didn't believe them, so I called travel insurance companies in Australia, and they said as long as we're still citizens in Australia, we will be covered in the US, even if my husband has a green card! so we plan to do that for the short term until hopefully covered by an employer

Travel Insurance works on the basis that you are resident somewhere and are travelling and coming back, for example serious medical and the first thing they want to do is get you back home.

There is New Immigrant cover, relatively cheap and not very good.

Health Insurance US is based on your State of residency, I have seen people be added to their Employers plan even though they have yet to arrive, Exchange will want to see you are legally resident in your State, Private Insurance maybe not.

Anyway you need to look at what is available in your State.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
