Okay. I am planning to wait on filing my K1 petition. Question is this. Since Minnesota makes you go through their site for obtaining insurance and I am on Medicaid will that affect my petition for my partner? Or will they be okay as long as they do not sign up for medicaid but instead obtains private insurance? We have assets to make up for my income not being the best that meets guidelines.

It won't impact the petition.

It will be a negative factor in being a financial sponsor for the visa later, and again for AOS to get the green card.

Depending on how much in assets you have, it may be best to have a co sponsor ready.

If you're on any kind of financial support from the government, then yes, it is relevant for eligibility. I believe health insurance providers are entirely irrelevant for the petition. In later steps you just need to be able to show that you have the means to financially support your fiance and that you have the assets, income or others to co-sign alongside you to adequately show that your fiance will not become a public liability during their stay. The petition is a lengthy process, so I would advise against waiting to file. To my understanding, health insurance for your fiance is not required or kept track of later, as by that point you would have made a contract with the government to be entirely financially liable and responsible for your fiance.

Minnesota does not require you to go through MnSure marketplace.  Private insurance is available

YMMV
