How long to renew passport

Hi Everyone,

 

This is not specifically immigration related, but something that most people here will be familiar with. I'm a USC and it's time to renew my passport, and I'm just curious how long the process usually takes. The official wait time on the website is 8 weeks. Has anyone here renewed their passport within the past year? Did it take the full 8 weeks? Was it longer, shorter? It's not an emergency, but I'd just like to know how long I will probably be without my passport while it processes.

If it's a renewal usually 3-4 weeks max. If you want to speed up the process you can pre-fill out the application to renew online and then print it out. It puts a special 3-D barcode on the page that they can just scan and process it faster than if you handwrite it out. here is the link to the electronic version of the form below....
