Hi

I am US Citizen and my mother is here in USA on visit visa. I want to apply for Green card for her.

First I want to know what is the current time frame for getting green card?

I heard that if I applied for her Green card then she cannot go back to home country until her green card is approved? is that correct ?

If she go back then she cannot enter USA again on visit visa ?

Are these information correct ?

Regards,

Ali

Once filed for AOS, she can come back only if she has AP or GC if travelled abroad. She can go back anytime regardless. Btw does she have her birth certificate with her for AOS?

You're a USC?  Your profile says F-1.

Varies, depends on location, but a year or so seems not unusual.
