people can't post ANYTHING about a Soldier without it becoming a Political or religious fight in here.

Did the Poem even mention US Soldier??? It could have been ANY soldier.

Geez people If you don't believe in supporting Soldiers or ya don't believe in the religion that they may believe in then Don't read a poem about them or post about it. Simple !

Oh why do I bother... Keep on mudslingling eachother.

I liked the poem.

Aren't you ex-military Reinhard?

I wouldn't call myself ex-military for the 18 month mandatory gig I did at the age of 18 1/2 - 20. Sure, technically it was military service but I hated the government I served and did not believe in the mission I was assigned to. There were many that did, however. Many that have and many that would have shot at their fellow citizens if ordered to do so. That's what made me say what I said.

See, I essentially had the choice to do my required service and move on with my life or spend at least twice that time in prison and clean toilets for the rest of my days. That's not as hard a choice as it may seem when you're in High School.

Exactly. And when I speak about these things, I am not bashing those that serve an honorable cause in an honorable fashion. Those I respect. Among the military of the world, though, they're a minority.

I don't harbor ill feelings towards the US military for carrying out a misguided mission, if that's what you mean. I do harbor ill feelings towards those that send them on it.

oh so we're gonna get literal with the Bible?? truly, the Bible literally has a lot of BS.. if u don't believe me, let me bring my slaves and let me go stone a hooker, since deuteronomy allows it.. I do believe that soldiers are not killing machines who actually enjoy killing (there might be exceptions).. but, a kill is a kill.. muderous or not.. who are we to take another man's life? .. anyway.. kudos to the troops, who are doing what they think is right..but also. even if it's life threatening, I don't think theres a 'right' killing, under a religious background.. of course, in a selfconservation instict, hell yea.. killing someone who's threatening ur life its acceptable..

Way to turn a post to show support and respect for soldiers into a mudslinging contest. Those of you that did should feel very highly of yourselves.. job well done.

And to the poster who's husband is a civilian. Yes, they get overlooked. And they do deserve some kudo's as well. But I've been there, and I know what they do and don't do. They didn't have to deploy - soldiers have to or they face legal consequences. They volunteered to join yes, but not to go on a deployment. At times, they are put into harms way.. versus the soldiers who go out to find the harms way. The soldier's job is war, the civilian's job is support.

Flame me if you want to, but the two are in totally different situations.

Wouldn't you agree that a soldier will defend anyone's right to express their first amendment right...even if the opinion doesn't agree with theirs?

wouldn't you agree that it takes a pompous a$$ to turn a thread showing support for those people defending people's rights and dieing in the process, into a political or religious debate?
