Now I am going to have to look up anti Finnish sentiment, I know it was part of Russia at the time.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

One of my ancestors wrote "we were worried our daughters wouldn't find husbands because they were part Finnish."

Hmm, I have had a look at the history where I am which did not really get going until the 1870's and the mining camps were certainly segregated but that seemed to be more an issue of lack of any common language. Now Irish and Chinese seemed to be targeted. And there was one State that was separated and eventually I found out that they were known as strike breakers.

Perhaps it was down to the locality.

This was in Minnesota/N. Dakota.  Btw, we had no idea we were Finnish until we did 23 and me.  My mom is like 25%.

Did not a lot of Finnish move to that area, intrigued as to why there was such a comment.

Yup, apparently many of them went to Michigan's UP.

Thanks everyone

I will start looking for a sponsor to avoid unpleasant surprise and therefore delay the processing of my case.

If I understood correctly, I will ask my sponsor the I134 form for each member of my family, nothing else?

with my bank account normally it's more than enough?

I will keep you informed for the rest of the process.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

They will fill one i134 form for your whole family, not one per person.

if the sponsor meets the guidelines, it should be fine. Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to immigration. If there is a problem with the sponsor they will give you opportunity to find another, if there is still time before DV year ends. (Or you may find that you don’t even need a sponsor, but it is always better to have one just in case.)

Hi all

Since the results of the DV lottery  it has been an everyday fight and stress...

I asked the family who gave us the address to put in the DS206, if they could sponsor us, it's impossible they already sponsor someone from their family.
But in the end it doesn't matter, I just found another family in the same state, through my wife's family. So I don't know if it's necessary to change the address for sending the green card or not.
I think it may be good to also have the other address, jute to demonstrate that we have support and friends in the USA.

Is there any problem for that?

It’s no problem having a different address but it’s no benefit either. The best is to actually get it delivered to where you know you will be staying, if you don’t know that yet (I’m not sure if you will start off staying at your sponsor) then as long as it’s someone you can trust to receive it for you then it’s fine.

At the moment I don't know anything. but if we are approved, we are thinking of asking our friend to rent us a house a week before our arrival, and therefore from what I know, we can always change the address at the airport.
