Hi All,

I'm from Chennai, India,

I have my birth certificate computer generated which has a seal and signature of the officer computerised. Chennai Municipality does not provide a physical original document. They tell us to print out copies from the online site. I have send this to NVC along with my DS forms. My NVC had NO RFE and I was also given the documentarily qualified status. However, do I need to present an original birth certificate at the interview? And since I do not have one what should I do?

I do see posts on this topic but they are from 2011 and 2012. Not sure if I have missed any current topics. Anyone, who has had similar concerns and has gone through the process recently?

Please help me out. Thank you!

You need to get the copy certified before going to the interview. You should also carry birth Affidavits made by your parents to the interview.

Off topic: Why are you spamming the group timeline on Telegram for the Mumbai people with you entry? There are around 330 people in that group. You haven't provided your data correctly on the timeline as well.

Sorry bout that. I had corrections and that's why there were multiple entries to the timeline. I won't be spamming any more.

Could you also provide further information like - do I need to get the copy certified by a notary or by the municipal authorities. Thank you!

Since the time from DQ to Interview is 4 months for Mumbai, I'd recommend both. Notary will be done within a day, the municipal one will take longer, but will be better.

If you are already on Telegram, please reach let us know your name on the group. Admins cannot find you on the group.
