Hey! I'll share my experience if it helps you at all. My husband just moved back to the US after a few years living abroad with me, so he is staying at his parents while looking for jobs and apartments in the city. We went with the I864 and his dad filed all his info as our joint sponsor. The household goes beyond the address where you reside, so despite we are all sharing the same house at the moment, we are two different households. This was our understanding but of courseI can't assure anything, since we rare still waiting on the NVC to review our case and aprove all docs hopefully.

Hi I’m confused about which AOS a joint sponsor who will be in the same household is required to fill out?! I-864 or I-864a

A "joint sponsor" ALWAYS provides an I-864 whether a "in the same household" or not.  The I-864 is used when combining income with the petitioner, OR, a joint filing spouse of the joint sponsor.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Ok I understand that I just wasn’t sure if it had to be the I-864a because our joint sponsor will be living in the same house hold.
