Hi there,

I have a valid AP and an interview for AOS coming up in a few weeks. I would like to leave USA and go on vacation two days after my interview.

Could I still use my AP to enter USA even if my AOS is approved?

Do they null a valid AP if you get approved during interview?

I would prefer not waiting for green carde to arrive which may take up to two motnhs.

Thanks,

Vox

If your AOS is approved, the AP is invalid and cannot be used to enter the US. If your AOS is approved on the sopt, explain your travel plans and ask for an I-551 stamp at that time.

IF AOS is approved, they may stamp your passport with I-551 stamp, if they do the I-551 stamp is temp green-card and allows travel.

If they don't stamp your passport then use AP to travel.

If the approve you remember to ask for the I-551 stamp.

If approval is given at the interview then the officer will ask for the AP to be returned along with the EAD.... if the officer does not ask for them back they are still void and can not be used for travel...... it has to be the I-551 stamp or you wait for the Greencard to arrive.....

I just phoned USCIS, after being on hold for 45 min. a lady who does not speak English very well (????? how did she get that job) told me that I can travel anywhere I want right after my interview with valid AP.

Apparently it is still valid since my GC will take 2 months to arrive.

I do not know if I should trust her or not????
