Marriage visa us citizen with UK spouse both living abroad

I am a US citizen currently living in the UK with my wife and 2 kids both children have dual citizenship. My wife is a UK citizen. We want to move to the states but are puzzled about the I864 affidavit of support form. I have been living abroad for several years and do not have a domicile in the states. It seems that proving you intend to establish a domicile is easy enough. However the financial bit is perplexing as we both work for UK based companies and our employment would end if we move to the states so I cannot prove financial support. My parents would be willing to joint sponsor but I don't understand what amount they would have to prove for income? Does it have to just cover them and my wife as she is the immigrant or would they have to prove they make enough to support themselves and all four of us?

Them and your wife only........They are joint sponsors for your wife....not for the US citizens.

Unless your income will continue from the same source after you return to the US, it does not count. So you will need a lot of assets or a joint sponsor. Or you move here ahead of your family and get a job before the I-864 comes into play. 
 

Have you filed tax returns? You still have to show them unless you were below the filing threshold.
