Hi,

I am a USA citizen and have applied for my sister and parents to come and visit me in Texas for my pregnancy and delivery. My parents have been to the USA and had a visitor visa previously but sister we applied for the 1st time. My question is if i obtain a  letter from the doctor mentioning that i need my sister to come and help me with delivery and the baby will that be a good thing to do. will that increase her approval chances. She works in Dubai UAE in an art school, is a pakistani by birth and we are taking the required documents along. She has visited other countries like Australia and has travelled well within the stay granted. Never over stayed in any country so does that help her.  the DS-160 application does not mention my pregnancy as I was not pregnant at the time it just mentions they want to visit USA as a family and the address is mine.

plz help

thanks

It will probably decrease her approval chances. (Doctors and midwives are in the US to help with delivery.)

fyi, she is 30 years of age and not married

What are her ties to Dubai?

Your pregnancy will not help her get a visa in any way. It can decrease the chances as it sounds like she wants to aid in child care or other care, which may be viewed as work.

This would be unauthorized work even if she not paid.   Taking care of you and / or the baby by her or your parents is not allowed under a tourist visa.

They can come and visit you and do tourist activities.

3 weeks to a month

As others have said it would be classified as unauthorized work and your sister would be denied. The officer will see it as your sister is taking jobs away from American citizens.

Her best chance is to show she has string ties to her country and plans to leave and not overstay her visa. Your pregnancy does not play a role in the decision.

This is what a doula is for.  So her reason should be to see her sister and visit with her new nephew or niece after.

I Have another concern with regards to the above post. As DS-160 gives the option of relationship status as Single, married, widowed etc but does not mention engaged. In this case she marked single on the form. However, she is engaged and has her engagement pictures so should she mention her engagement at the interview and present pictures or let it be single as on the form. What situation helps her case and better chances of getting the visa. plz, advise

Engaged is not an official status, so single is correct. If they ask if she is in a relationship she can say she is engaged. They won’t be interested in photos, and she is unlikely to be able to volunteer any information.

No, it’s presented as a tie home - although curiously not mentioned earlier either when simply stated “she is 30 years of age and not married”, or when the only response to the question about ties was “she is working for an arts class for kids”. I wonder if the fiancé materialized sometime over the past 9 days since those posts?!
