We submitted the wrong birth certificate in our initial submission to the NVC and it was denied. I called the NVC and was told to put the document as "unavailable" and attach a note explaining that we had applied for the correct birth certificate and that we would bring it along to the interview. I called the NVC after 5 weeks, wondering if perhaps I was given the wrong information, and was told I needed to type, sign, and upload a letter of explanation, not just a note. My question is, has anyone got approved with just a note of explanation? I would hate to re-set the 2 month wait (we do have the correct birth certificate now). Do we have a chance of getting approved with just the note or is it better to take the 2 month hit and re-upload a document?

Which birth certificate is the correct one I ordered a new one before when doing the I-130 also a Canadian I hope it’s the right one as I’m currently at NVC stage aswell and going to submit in the next couple of days

It is the long form with parental information, smaller than your typical paper size but bigger than wallet size, and is blue (looks like same material that's used for Canadian currency). The certified copy (longer than standard paper size) works as well. We only had the wallet size. Hope it all goes well for you! 😊

Depends on your province.  You need one with the parents name on it.  In Ontario you need the birth register copy.

I haven't heard of anyone getting CC (or DQ... whatever we're calling it) without all the documents. since you have it now, I would upload that.

Well the one I order is certified and the same material as Canadian currency I ordered it last year but it doesn’t have my parental information on it only mine. Where do they specify this? I’ve only ever read must be a certified birth certificate.

If you have the blue one, that's the correct one. I only said parental information to help describe it. Ours has parents names on it, yours may be different, it is not required to have parental information per se. Just the blue one aka "long form"

Ok perfect we’ll i think I’m going to give it a go because it is certified and blue as well the exact same material of our currency. Just missing my parents names.

I’ll update and let you know if they accept it.

Thanks again

as long as it has the parents info it will be fine.

The only province that has a different requirement is ontario.

Mine does not have my parents info but like I said it’s the new long blue form with the Canadian currency style material and it is certified just no parentage. So would you recommend I get the one with parentage on it?
