I am aware that in order to be eligible for obtaining your citizenship, one is required to by 18+, have a green card, and at least 5 years of residency in the U.S. My question is, since I am only a couple of months away from the 5 years of residency, can i start the N-400 form application now. I figured this might be a good idea since the application review might take a while, so i'll have reached the 5 years requirement when doing the interview.

Is it okay or the application will be discarded since i did not meet requirements at the time of application?

Thanks in advance for your responses,

You can start whenever you want just don’t submit or send the form more than 90 days early from your 5-yr residency date if using 5-yr rule.

5-yr requirement is for the application not the interview.

Like arken said, you can start working on it right now and from time to time. However, make sure you work on your applic within a 30-day period each time or else the data you already put in will be erased. You would see the reminder when you're working on your application. Good luck!
