So I am a US Citizen and my wife is the one trying to get a green card based on marriage.  Our interview is within two weeks but of course I noticed just a few days ago that I lost my most recent US passport book.  I've still got a super old one with a photo of me from like 20 years ago which I can use to get a new one.  We called USCIS asking if they needed the sponsor's US passport and they said I just needed a government issued ID.  Was the sponsor asked to provide a US passport or other form of proof of citizenship during your interviews?  This super old passport is currently all I've got.

A current government issued ID.  Your driver's license works for this.  Our interview was this morning and the officer preference was my DL not my passport
