I hope they throw the book at him and make an example of him. Especially after he blatantly lied under oath. His actions could have caused widespread violence.

I doubt they will even though this could be considered a racist hate crime.  I suspect the Smollett camp, BLM, and the likes of Ben Crump will hammer the racial makeup of the jury.

Sounds like they plan to double down with an appeal (not sure what grounds).  Apparently, Jussie still wants to portray the victim.

I am not bothered by most of the initial responses people had to the Smollett case.  I think most of us tend to believe the "victim" and their story.  However, the silence by these same people after more information came out, and particularly after the verdict was released, is rather sad but predictable.

Lawyers on Sean Hannity's radio show think that he might claim "ineffective assistance (?) of counsel."  One of these guys said, "I'd NEVER put my client on the stand unless I knew EXACTLY what he was going to say."

Kind of an interesting strategy, so Smollett would have to claim he was forced to take the stand.
