Isn’t Bernie building a cult of personality?  Btw, the history of the two Koreas is very interesting.  When they were divided, the North was actually in a much better economic position than the South with most of the industry being in the North.  Fast forward 70 plus years and we know how that all turned out.

No, Bernie is building a movement. There's a big difference. The movement is bigger than him and it's about the issues, not about him.

Why am I not surprised?  Claims with no backing, a familiar MO.

As someone who has actually lived in Korea, I know your claim to have actually talked to a North Korean is horse hooey.  But you keep doing you.

I think MOST Americans would love to see the defect lowered.  I know I would.  It may seem impossible today, but there exist countries that operate on a positive budget.

I agree. Spending cuts are unpopular though, even when we support the reasoning behind them. I think unique to our electoral system is that presidents tend to focus their first term on things that will get them re-elected, and then focus on less popular policies during the second term.

Movement, cult of personality, considering his supporters are very antagonistic against anyone who doesn’t support him, it is certainly hard to tell the difference.  The website 538 currently has a brokered convention in first place ahead of Bernie, I wonder how his supporters will react if this comes to pass.

Actually, if you go on the subreddit Sanders for president, they're pretty nice and welcoming.

Individual situations aside, I support the tax cuts to the extent that they are going to take a crack at lowering the deficit. I haven't seen that yet.

That's one of my biggest issues as well is the deficit. We NEED to lower the deficit for the country's sake.

Another thing I want to talk about is the DOD budget at over $700 billion a year right now which is crazy. But at the same time my coworkers and I can't even do training to further our training

I hope to go back for a visit later this year.  Been a couple years since I was there.  Where do you normally stay?

Well, due to the Coronavirus thing, the wife and I had to change our usual route to Russia, so we decided to transit through Korea this time (normally we transit through Beijing).  On the way there we will only be laying over about 16 hours, so we will get a room near the airport.  On the way back we will spend two days in Seoul.  When I go for work, I am usually in Daejeon, and Seoul, but I usually spend a weekend exploring.  I love Busan, especially in the late Summer, and Jeju Island was a lot of fun.  Daegu is also a nice city, but I do enjoy Seoul.  Iteawon is great!

Towards Medicare for all, free college, paid leave, democracy in the work place, getting money out of politics, publicly run elections.

Hmm, I do not remember elections being privatized?  I also love the DSA’s take on corporations, it all sounds like a movement toward government control of economic capital.  Sure, they say corporations should be controlled by the workers, but they don’t tell you who will be controlling the workers.

Yeah, Itaewon is fun.  Changed a lot between my living there and my most recent visit.

Visited Daegu once, it was nice.  Lived in Seoul, and my last visit was mostly around Seongnam.  Rode that ultra-fast elevator in the Lotte World Tower (wasn't built until after I left.

I completely agree with your assessment @Burnt Reynolds. She likes to portray herself as a Moderate but many of her domestic policies are almost as far Left as Bernie's. But her foreign policy is on point to be honest with you. She has actually seen Combat all the while Mayo Pete ain't seen anything at all.

She also has Antifa connections which aren't exactly moderate either. How much they're influencing is anyone's guess right now.

Her foreign policy is one I agree with, and really it's not a surprise that people that tend to serve in the military also tend to be far less warmongers than the war-loving (yet service dodging) political class.

Elections are self funded and essentially run by corporations who donate to super PACs.

So all the county and city clerks that run elections are beholden to corporations?  I suppose we should federalize all elections now.
