Hello!  My fiance is from the EU living in the UK.  We are planning on getting married in the U.S. this year and then apply for a Family Permit so that I can join him in Scotland a couple months later.  We would like to move to the U.S. after a few years living abroad, so will eventually be applying for a Spousal Visa from abroad.  Questions! 1. Is it okay that we will be married in the U.S. or do we need to get married abroad in order to be eligible for a Spousal visa?  2. What documents/proof of domicile do we/I need in order to make it a smoother process coming back to the U.S.?

1.  Perfectly fine.  A legal marriage anywhere (including inside the US).

2.  Tax returns, banks accounts, utility bills, driver's license, etc.  are good evidence of US domicile.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
