RFE after Interview that hasn't come?

Hi,

I recently had my greencard interview and was told by the officer that everything was approved aside from my medical, which he said the doctor had failed to fill out correctly and I was going to need to file a new medical.

The officer said that the notice should go out the next day and if not, early next week.

This was over two weeks ago now and I have had no update to my case nor have I had anything in the mail.

Is this a common phenomenon? Do RFE's take a long time even just to be issued?

The USCIS helpline said I should just send my completed medical to the office that I had the interview at, but that goes against the process the officer described which was to wait for instructions in the letter.

Has this happened to anyone else? If anyone else had an RFE after the interview , how long did it take to be sent?

Thanks all for the advice!

yes you wait for RFE letter to send the medicals or else it gets lost if you send it with the RFE letter.

That's what I figured, however it's strange that the USCIS call service can provide incorrect advice with such confidence.

Not really.  They're known unfondly on VJ as the misinformation line.

If you speak to anyone at the USCIS call center, make sure it's a tier 2.  Confirm your address is correct.

Same thing happened to us, we had an interview on Feb 4 and the officer said that they would send out the letter that day or the next day but we've been waiting and haven't received anything yet almost 2 weeks later. I called USCIS and they submitted a support case for us because they also said nothing has been sent out according to their system. I also figured it will be safer to wait for the RFE letter before doing the medical again just in case. By the way, in our case the medical was complete but we submitted it at the port of entry and it never got passed along to the officer's file so he said we had to re do it. He said when this happens there is usually about a month or two delay. So I'm still waiting......hoping the letter will come soon.
