Cebu Mactan Airport - Documents Required?

My fiancee is leaving soon from Cebu.  I told her to carry on the packet from the US Embassy as she will need to present that to the Immigration Officer at the Point of Entry.

However, she also wants to carry on instead of packing her copy of the I-129 Petition and back up documents. The file is about 3/4 inch thick plus carry on my affidavit of support (I-134) file which is also as thick.

I guess her fear is the Immigration Officer at the Mactan Airport may ask her for documents and she wants to be prepared.

My question and request for answers is if anyone has left the Mactan Airport on a K1 visa, what was their experience going through the immigration at Mactan Airport?

After checking in at the ticket counter, I know they have to go pay the terminal fee of 850 pesos and departure tax.  The next step is to clear immigration and custom. As a tourist, I never had any problems.  However, for Filipinos leaving the country, do they encounter harassment? Should my fiancee carry on all the documents in case she is questioned?

Thanks in advance for any insights from others that has left the Philippines via Cebu Mactan Airport.

The biggest hassle is if she is overweight on baggage other than that no hassles at all in Mactan. My now wife carried all her important papers in her hand carry, but it was not because of the POE, it was because we did not want her luggage to get misplaced and thus all her papers lost or worst. It's a prudent idea for her to carry her papers in her hand carry bag. As far as POE my wife had no big issues but her POE was Dallas Texas. Your fiancee will be fine don't sweat it. Have a safe trip!!!!

There is nobody from US immigration at Mactan airport, and PH officers won't know or care about her US immigration petition, the I-134, etc.

They will just care about the CFO sticker.

The DO NOT OPEN envelope she receives from the embassy contains the complete I-129F petition package originally submitted to USCIS, plus the embassy documents.  You fiancee does NOT need to carry 3/4" more papers in her carry-on .. waste of time, effort and the added weight.       if she wants the copies she can toss them in her checked luggage.

Does she have extra copies of her birth certificate?  That will be useful later.

Since there is a lot of sensitive information in the documentation, I wouldn't leave it to fate to make it to my destination. Luggage can get lost or stolen and then your information is somewhere that you no longer have control.

My wife kept all of her important papers in one expandable folder and always put in her carry on. Nobody is going to ask her for her papers at Mactan. Just passport with CFO sticker and Visa as mentioned up thread. I agree with Paul and Mary that Mactan airport with the new terminal is a joy to fly out of on an international flight compared to Manila...

Finally done...

Personally I scanned everything and had it on a USB drive, plus DROPBOX  ... no 3/4" pile of papers to lug around.

The Boss will never get rid of her paper :-))))

You must know my wife, she says the same thing about me (minus the boss part of course).

For the original poster:

Never check anything you can not life without or cannot easily replace. Luggage gets lost, damaged, stolen all the time.

She will also pass through immigration before going through baggage claim so make sure she takes her sealed in her carry-on. I'm sure they will get the bags to retrieve the envelope if needed, but not annoying people when going though immigration is always better.
