I am about to leave the US after a 88 day stay with my US fiancée. I’m British so I have a ESTA. I would like to return after five weeks for another 88 day period. 

 

Between now and then my fiancée will have sent off the i129f petition.

 

I have sufficient funds to not work for a very long time. I do read things about not returning too soon but there is no written rule about this. Has anyone here had trouble re entering the US?

It might sound like you are trying to live in the USA to CBP.   

 

You should stay out of the US for a period longer than you are in the US.

It would be reasonable to expect a trip to Secondary not there is no way of knowing, you may get lucky, you may not.

May be fine, may not. Seems risky to me. Why not wait longer between visits?

If it did work, I would not expect it to work for a 3rd entry.

I would say the odds are somewhat against you, but it just depends on what bloke you get on that day at that airport. You may get Mr. Super Nice Guy or maybe Mr. Grouchy. And I think age probably influences them...early twenties with no job, or responsibilities vs a fifty-something early retiree who owns a home. They can send you back home on the next plane which is a long sad flight home. And they sometimes say “don’t come back unless you get a tourist visa”, which is unlikely to be approved in London. Then you won’t come back  until your K1 is finalized.
You roll the dice; you take your chances.
