Hi there,

I know this topic is a semi common one.. as well as the theme. We received our NOA1 September 25, 2019 and are still currently waiting for the NOA2.

Feeling quite discouraged seeing most Canadian members get approved within 3 months here- our backgrounds are clean, no divorce or kids.

The only thing I can think of that might be holding things up is the fact that my fiance is in the Air Force and has an extremely high clearance level. Even if we were to get an RFE, I feel we would have got it by now.. Canada is considered low fraud and I visit me fiance all the time. I'm pretty sad and don't understand what's the hold up here- especially with the fact that I have been extremely busy planning our wedding for October in Oregon.

Is anybody else experiencing this lag? I know there is not much we can do.

I'm not sure where you saw these approvals within 3 months. USCIS is reporting 5-7 months for the I-129f. At this stage, the beneficiary's country doesn't matter; the estimated 5-7 months is the same for all petitions.

I know it's hard, but you'll have to try to be patient.

Once you're out of normal processing times you can submit an inquiry as to the status. Not much else you can do but wait - many, MANY others have and are experiencing the same wait.

I understand it's hard, but you CAN NOT compare your case with others - you will drive yourself crazy doing that. I'm sure it feels like a wait of forever, but I assure you it isn't. Hoping you get your NOA 2 soon :)

What's holding things up is the background checks for the petitioner because of his military service and what he does.

This is a game of patience. Each case stands on its OWN merits and not something you may want it to or what others are experience. There are no two cases the same.

We received our NOA1 on Sep 24 and our NOA2 on 2/10. I hope yours will be soon too. People have mentioned that this time is for investigating the background of the petitioner. I have lived in several states since I was 18, which was quite a while ago, and that might have taken longer than others. Having a common name like mine would also slow things down. I wouldn't expect that a high level security clearance would slow down a visa, but a foreign relationship would slow down a security clearance.
