do you have any other photo ID, such as state license or EAD ?

I dont know if you need your passport, but will take uo to 6 weeks to get a new one

I’d be talking to the British consulate about urgently getting a replacement. You’re likely to need a police report or stat dec .. not sure how you will get a DL without photo ID...

they wont give a replacement, only an "emergency travel document" but it is photo ID so could work for your AOS interview. Costs 100 pounds. The problem is it says they need your proof of intended travel, maybe give your nearest consulate a call and explain.

Otherwise you may need to just apply for a new passport from the UK and maybe have to reschedule your AOS interview.

I may understand you wrong so read carefully.

you are in the US without any form of picture ID

You cannot get a US drivers license without picture ID (UK license is not considered a picture ID)

You cannot get approved without a passport

You cannot leave the country without abandoning the AOD (Unless you have AP/EAD)

If you have AP/EAD you can use those to get a state ID but you still need a passport for your interview.

Your embassy should help you get a passport just not the quick expedited way.

Unless I'm missing something, rescheduling the interview is just about your only option (unless they are willing to hold the petition after the interview while you get a new passport.
