Hi there, I have my interview coming this wednesday and I've gathered all my documents together but was wondering if anyone had any ideas for other documents I might include.

As I understand it the reason for the interview is to establish that the marriage is real. Excluding all the obvious stuff like passports, NOA forms, birth certificates etc, I have:

  • Joint bank account statement that has both our names on it.
  • Utility bills - All written out in my name but with our address.
  • Rent bills - With my spouses name, but has same address.
  • Photos of us over the last year.
  • Marriage certificate.
  • Invoices for our second wedding to be in South Africa of May this year. (First/legal wedding was court house marriage and was very small.)
  • Invoice for flights to South Africa for second wedding.
  • Letters from family addressed to booth of us from out of state and out of country.

Will this be enough? Should I try get more documents that have both our names on them?

I'm not entirely sure what kind of document is best for this as bills are usually only made out in one person's name. Does anyone have any ideas?

Furthermore, does anyone think that mentioning our second wedding will be confusing and suspicious? We are currently legally married but neither of our family attended the first wedding. The second wedding will no be legally binding at all, more of a party with family.

I think you have enough evidence. As for the "second wedding" i would avoid calling it this, a wedding is an official ceremony which was done the first time only. Whatever you did in the "second wedding" was nothing more than a party to celebrate you got married or even a renewal of vows in front of family and friends would also be ok.

Best to have insurances like health, dental, vision and life insurance commingled with your spouse.

All financial related showing that you and your partner shared.

And dont say second marriage it should call a renewal of vow.

Good luck
