Hello Guys,

I’ve applied for B1 visa to attend to a conference. The conference is between 10-13 th Feb! Actually they forgot to tell me that my visa application has approved. So they asked for my passport  just yesterday while the conference is in 2 days! If I wanna use courier services it takes a long time and then I miss the conference.

I went to US consulate in Calgary for interview. I’m going to calgary  tomorrow and I wanna go to consulate Monday early in the morning and ask security guys to give my passport to the Consulate and then ask that they give it back to me in person as soon as possible so that I can go to US right away after that.otherwise I miss the conference.

so what do you think? Is that possible to give my passport to them  and receive it both in person just because I have only 2 days?

Security guards will not/cannot accept your passport.

(And even if they could, COs will not just drop everything else they are doing to prioritize putting one visa in for someone who bucked the normal channels.)  A number of consulates do have procedures for dropping off at the consulate itself, but that generally is some form of mailbox/dropbox and does not involve handing over to one person who then delivers direct to a CO.

OP, when did you submit your visa application?

Thx for your cm. Then what can I do?any suggestion? It was their fault that forgot to inform me earlier. I’m gonna email them and tell them the story that I’ve come all the way to this city just to reach them. Probably they even wont answer. But Thats the only thing I can do

Well I would phone rather than email in that case. You never know who gets round to looking at email when, or how many hundreds of emails are in the inbox ahead of yours.

edit: oh I just saw above you previously tried to call unsuccessfully.

what do you mean, it was their fault that they forgot to inform you earlier? I don’t know how Calgary works (different consulates work different ways). Did they say they would contact you, or were you supposed to track it on CEAC?  Again, how far in advance of travel did you submit your application?
