Also in AP status in Jamaica. I'm sure others too because I was there when my husband was interviewed. They asked others for more documents too and given that white piece of paper I saw... he was one of the last few interviewed. I believe they unnecessary drag this out and understand how you feel😞

I'm sorry to hear that you are also under AP... I am also frustrated that no one can confirm that they have the marriage certificate. I have proof that it was signed for at the Embassy, but nothing else. It would provide me some comfort in knowing that someone could confirm it they have it. My case was updated one day after it was delivered so hopefully things will go smoothly from there.

Another area of frustration (which has occurred throughout this entire immigration process) is that there is no consistency. I have done as much research as I can and I cannot find a logical time-frame for completing AP. It varies from a few days, to weeks, to months, to years.

I've also researched and your right it varies. The only proof your going to get is the DHL tracking and that's proof enough for me. However I asked the interviewer how long it would take after receiving the documents he said 2 to 3 weeks. This is how much time I will give until I contact my congressman for help. I refuse to wait months and another year it's not fair. We complied and provided everything

I feel your pain.  We had our interview on 14th February and the CO requested 2 additional documents which we had to upload onto CEAC and then mail in the originals with our passports via DHL.  At our interview the CO told us that the current time for review of documents is 4 to 6 weeks and then add an additional 2 weeks onto that for processing of the visa so in other words dont expect anything in under 2 months.  In fairness to the CO, he was the only person conducting immigrant interviews on that day and I am advised by another person from my country that on the day of their interview, he was also the only CO conducting interviews so if he also has to review documents that are subsequently submitted, then he may be overloaded and overworked.

It is very frustrating not knowing anything.

Thank you for your insight... my husband did not ask his interviewer that question so this is helpful. This Thursday will be a full two weeks since the package was signed for. However, Monday was a holiday and I am looking forward to some progress this Friday.

I like the idea of having the proof through DHL, but I have heard  of lost document horror stories.

Thanks for the update... but the information keeps changing. Another VJ member just said 2-3 weeks, and this is why I am frustrated... there is no consistency. If I was provided with more accurate and clear information, my stress would not go away, but I would feel more comfort.

I think the difference in time is because of different consulates.  Trinidad may take longer than Jamaica which may take longer than Guyana etc.  I agree with you though about the lack of consistency as well as the inability to get any additional information.

Yes, this is true... the differences in countries can cause a significant variance in time. Now, I could be wrong, but I feel like the process should be the same, and each Embassy should have enough employees to handle and maintain the case loads they receive. This may be new to us, but this is not new to them, and at some point, someone should make a conscious effort to ignite change.

Hey, i  have been following your topic since im on the same situation as you. almost same time frame, but different embassy. my wife and i took an original marriage certificate to the consular  and they didnt accept  it. they wanted a copy certification.  i got so mad because i thought it was dumb . so we sent our document the next day, and for this we had to travel to a different city.  they updated AP Status the next day they received the document and after that i haven't see any movement . is frustrating not knowing whats going on, is like we not paying for this thing  to get done.

i just have a question,, who sent the email to the embassy YOU the petitioner or your husband? does it matter?

Hard to say what even matters during AP, regarding communicating with them. The most important thing that matters is that you send them what they need as soon as possible.

After I got confirmation through DHL that the marriage certificate arrived at the Embassy I emailed them and then again from my husband's email address and I got a generic statement:

Good Day,

This case is currently under administrative review.  We are not able to predict how long that process will take to complete.  The reviewing officer is doing everything possible to ensure an accurate and timely review.  We will contact you should we need any additional information.

Regards,

Immigrant Visa Unit

But when I emailed them again, this is what I got:

Good Day:

We acknowledge receipt of the Marriage Certificate.

Your timeline is similar to ours - Our case was updated a day after the Embassy signed for our document. It's doesn't hurt to send an email and we always got a response the next day.

I guess, slowly... I just don't know if it is significant because the document was delivered on February 6th. I'm just glad that they have it.
