And there goes the countdown timer from 1 day to the one shown below. Anyone else have the same message while checking their status online? If so when did you end up getting the interview date? Thanks.

Estimated wait time:

We are taking longer than expected to process your case. You do not need to do anything at this time.

Hello everyone. When i check case status online, I noticed that there is estimated case completion but no estimated wait time. My biometrics were scheduled for March 18 and when i went to the ASC the office was closed due to covid situation. I still didn’t get new schedule for biometrics. The note on the office said that they will automatically  re-schedule it when the offices are open and I don’t have to call. I was just wondering if anyone is in the same situation and got there biometrics scheduled again or anybody missing estimated wait time as well.

Timeline

Field office Newark NJ

Feb 22 2020 online submission

Feb 28 2020 biometrics scheduled

March 18 2020 USCIS offices closed

Appreciate everyone time reading and replying and best of luck to everyone

You don't have to wait for them to re-schedule. Check if you local biometrics centers are open. If they are, then take a copy of your previous Biometric notification letter and do a walk-in during non-peak hours (usually in the afternoon) and they should be able to fit you in. If they are closed, then nothing you can do but wait.

My bio was scheduled for 3/19, but I did a early walkin on 3/6 and got that done. The next week the offices started shutting down and I was glad I got it out of the way before things went crazy.

Hello guys, I hope everyone is doing well.

I would like to share my current situation.

I have a pending I-751, filed last Feb 2019. Then I applied N-400 Feb 2020. I thought my application would speed things up but based on what's happening, I think it is the other way around.

Anyway, my current situation is my husband and I are expecting our second baby. We are so happy about it! What worries me is about my paperworks - extension letter expiring in 3 months, and I also think I might need my 10 yr green card for me and my baby's insurance. Also for hospital, WIC application, and any other paperworks that asks about my legal status here in the US.

I tried contacting the USCIS customer service - telling me the generic reply/ also hearing about them not giving passport stamp appointment because it is not considered 'emergency'.

Also the CIS Ombudsman - telling me that my case is not qualified for expedite.

My only hope is the senator's assistant that I contacted last week.. but based on my experience, she will also just rely the USCIS generic message to me as a response.

I hope someone can enlighten me about my situation. I also hope I will be finished before I give birth.

Thank you.. stay safe!

Unfortunately, no one at USCIS will do anything until you’re in a 30 day window of the extension letter expiring. That’s what we were told and once you’re in that window call every day (or multiple times a day, that’s what we did) and talk to a tier 2 officer until someone agrees to make an infopass appointment for you, that’s what worked for us.

I think your situation would qualify as an emergency, but they’d still only see you immediately before the letter expires.

I wish they’d just automatically extend the extension letter again. They’re really messing with some people.

Thank you so much for replying. I would like to ask how do you reach a tier 2 officer? Do the agents connect the call right away?

I know right. Especially during this pandemic, where the offices limits the people going in and out inside their facility. :(

My husband would call and ask to speak to a supervisor (or just ask for tier 2) as soon as they answered the phone, we learned to not even bother explaining anything to the initial person who answers. They do connect the call, but we usually wait on hold about 10 minutes.

It seems it’s up to the person you speak to deem your situation an emergency or not. Two officers told us to call back when the letter actually expires and one was really nice and said no problem I’ll have someone call you to set up an appointment. The process of trying to set up the appointment is such a hassle and so stressful.

Hopefully your case can get approved before your extension runs out.  Good luck!

Thank you so much.. so I guess I still have few months.. waiting game starts again. 😂

And if the insurance company wants us to provide a copy of my green card/extension, i will try to call the customer service number and see if I can get a passport stamp. 😁

Best case scenario too is that my interview letter will arrive before that happens. 😁

Before COVID-19 you could easily do walk-in appointments before your scheduled biometrics. After COVID-19 it's a different story....the website states this regarding walk-ins: The ASC may not be able to process you due to high case volumes. You may experience long wait times, or you may have to return on another date.

That’s a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion, i will try walking in sometime this week. Hopefully they take me in with the previous letter.

My suggestion would be to try a walk-in an hour before they are set to close....they tend to schedule biometrics between 7:30am and 1pm at most ASCs.

Best of luck in your attempt! :)
