02/24/2020: Appointment Notice Received - USPS - Appointment Date 03/02/2020

02/27/2020: Biometrics completed - walk-in St Paul MN office. Case"status changed to "Case is Being Actively Reviewed by USCIS"

Hi, i am from the same field office too. Were they busy when you walked in? Also, did they ask for a reason why you walked in earlier than your appointment?

Thank you!

Good Day everyone,
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I just applied for N-400 on Feb. 18 and have my Biometrics appointment on March 10th.
I was informed yesterday by my employer that they will be closing our office at the end on March and that we will be laid off. I was wondering if claiming unemployment and getting public benefits would affect the chances of obtaining the citizenship. I have read on multiple websites that it should not as long as it is claimed lawfully, but it is always a delicate position to be in and maybe some of you have known people in a similar situation, any helpful insight is welcome 🙏.
In advance thank you 😊!

Update on my online application:

I had uploaded all my documents when I filed my application, but they didn't show all after my case was visible online. Only the additional evidence showed.

So I uploaded the required ones again afterwards, the day after filing.

As it states that the documents you upload afterwards are unsolicited evidence, and they are not required to look at those files, I wanted to make sure I was okay.

Not one of the officers knew, so they had to put me through to a tier 2 officer. When I finally was able to connect to one (he called me back) he only needed two minutes to tell me all files were there so there is no problem whatsoever. Perhaps this helps someone else. It is good to know you can still upload even the required evidence after filing.

Thank you!

You can tell them why you are doing the walk-in appointments without them asking. I think that's what most people do, but I guess I could be wrong. I heard that Wednesdays around noon are the best day/time to do a walk-in. I hope that helps.

I would not go that route if I was you.  I would work any where but not ask for public benefits at this stage even if people are telling you otherwise.  At the end of the day, you are the one who has to answer to the interviewing officer, not them. Ultimately, it is up to you.

I tried to unlock it but it seems as though someone already created an unprotected copy.   I had protected the "P" Column as people kept messing up the calculations. When people copy and paste, they have to Special Paste the DATA ONLY.

Thanks for taking care of that. It looks much better.  I think someone else has started a new page because we did not know if you were going to come back on here soon or if it was going to take you long.  But, we all appreciate your help.

Collecting unemployment is not a public benefit/does not make you a public charge. If you are thinking of signing up for welfare; well then you may have issues and I strongly recommend against it. It’s actually good that you know you will be laid off because you can start looking for a job and not have a gap in income. You are able to be proactive and find a new job. 🙂

Hi mrsR,

We arrived at about 1:30 pm on Thursday afternoon. There were 2 or 3 others in front of us, but we were in and out within 10-15 minutes. We didn't really give them an opportunity to ask why we were there early... we gave them the appointment letter with the March 2 date and time and explained that my spouse had mid-terms exams at the U on that date. The guard said, "I suppose" and gave us a number to wait our turn.

We have had to walk-in (prior to our appointment) twice on our journey, but both times we went in the early afternoon, later in the week, and didn't get turned away either time.

Good luck!

I will be filing my N-400 online this month.  For the tax returns and transcripts, do we need to submit both or either of the two?  The transcripts need to get it from IRs.   Which one should I get? So many kinds of transcripts in IRs website.

Thank you!! I might plan to do early biometrics if i am in the st paul area and after I got my bio letter since I live 2 hrs away from the ASC.

May I ask how long did you wait until you got your bio letter online after you filed? Thanks again.

We received the hard copy Appointment Notice in the mail 16 days after we filed; 9 days after receiving notification online. Seemed like it took a little while, but it arrived. That was the important part.

You're in Wisconsin? You must be near Eau Claire (2 hour drive). That's my hometown.
