Copies of all previous forms submitted?

Hi there,

I have my K1 AOS interview coming up next week and I had a question regarding the checklist of stuff to bring.

Where they say that we should bring copies of all previous documents submitted, does this mean in regard to AOS, or to the entire K1 process going all the way back to pre-NOA1?

I can get all that stuff but printing it all out is going to make for one hell of a wad of paper.

I'm aware that most of the stuff is brought along just as a precaution and the amount of stuff they actually need to see is much simpler.

How far back should I go in terms of bringing all documents?

Thanks in advance

Hi! My husband's AOS is next week too. We printed out only the forms for the AOS packet and our supporting evidence of our marriage (house deed, joint finances, etc.) Good luck!

Forget K1, that is the past now, you aren’t applying for it now. It’s for AOS which is marriage based. So bring anything you have post marriage.

I brought everything from the original I-129F onward with me every time I got to visit my friends at the USCIS. "Chance favors the prepared mind" is one my motto. You do not need to do this but I was glad I did.

My file went from a few pages at the time of filing the I-129F to being over 6 inches. I saved every document, every NOA, literally everything that had to do with the whole journey was saved and ordered. It made my life easier when I had to file the for the next step (just grab the copies from the previous stage) and it was a huge time saver when my original evidence package sent in with the ROC went missing. It also saved my behind when we where at the ROC interview and were told the copy of the divorce decree was missing. Open file, remove copy, hand to IO and off we went with the rest of the interview. Didn't even to show the original.

As soon as my Oath is done we will burn the file at the party that my friends have already planned (just waiting for the oath date). I still have a digital copy though, just don't tell my wife 😎

Ok thank you all, that's good to know.

I have one other concern regarding the interview.

As I understand it the reason for the interview is to establish that the marriage is real. Towards this end I have:

  • Joint bank account statement that has both our names on it.
  • Utility bills - All written out in my name but with our address.
  • Rent bills - With my spouses name, and also has address.
  • Photos of us over the last year.
  • Marriage certificate.

Will this be enough? Should I try get more documents that have both our names on them?

I'm not entirely sure what kind of document is best for this as bills are usually only made out in one person's name. Does anyone have any ideas?

Tax returns, don't know why but the USCIS loves tax returns. Include your tax returns. Put them on top of the pile. Remember the word of the day Tax returns. Actually if you are able to, include the 2019

@Dustyb You'd be better served if you were to move over to the AOS thread to ask this question. Your in the K-1 but people here are working through their K-1 issues and none are at the AOS stage yet. Hence you will get minimal reply's.
