Hi VJ members

i have an experience to share. I came to the us through k1 visa and i did my driver license but it was expired based on my visa which 90 days

so i got my NOA1 and appointment notice and i went to the Secretary of State to ask them to renew my driver license since i have a pending application of the AOS. They submitted a question to Homeland security if im qualified to get my driver license renewed or not based on the notice number of my AOS. I got back after two days, and they accepted to renew my driver license for one year.

my concern is that does that procedure mean that im almost getting approved from uscis because homeland security approved to give me 1 year of driving license

You are not approvable until you have had the interview.  All they did was say that you are in a period of authorized stay pending the final decision

YMMV

For clarification, states control driver's license requirements, not any federal agency........a federal agency could verify your status for presence in the US only.  I agree with @payxibka that their determination means nothing regarding your approval......good luck.

No, most states allow 1 year drivers license based on a pending AOS, although it tends to be buried in their laws and most of the people at the DMV dont know about it, thus I suspect its why they wanted to get clarification.
