Dont buy tickets on short notice in the peak travel season :P

If you want the best prices, look for tickets after the summer season, and buy tickets ahead of time. Depending on an airlines pricing/fare rules, you might find a cheaper round trip ticket than a one way. As long as you use the outward ticket, you don't have to use the return. Cant do the reverse though, they ussualy cancel the return when outward is not used.

Also inquire at local travel agents in the Philippines.

Also, depending on airlines, it may be cheaper to buy the international ticket and domestic ticket seperatly. You have more choices, but it does take addtional planning. Otherwise you would be limited to airlines with code sharing agreements. Although sometimes Orbitz will issue tickets for multiple airlines.

Can you help me guys where can i get cheaper tickets from philippines going to Michigan USA??Any advice...thanks

I tried all the internet sites like Orbitz and Expedia and didn't find them to be much cheaper than the airlines themselves. As your traveling from the Philippines you might be interested in looking at this site http://www.flychina.com/ . It was recommended to me by someone else. Their prices were half the price of what I found on the other web sites. Better yet, see a travel agent, especially one who specializes in travel to Asia. A Vietnamese friend recommended one who serves the Vietnamese community in my city and he was able to knock another $265 off the the www.flychina.com site for the same flights.

thank you for the reply...i might go to travel agent here in the philippines...im planning to fly in the US this coming July 17..

July is definetly peak, if you wait until august even, you can probably save some money. Though sepetember will probably be the cheapest.

Is this cheaper than what you have already found?

From Manilla to LAX (with taxes) with evaair.com:

Adult:USD682.3

Child:USD529.9

You didn't say where in Michigan you were going to fly to, so i assumed Detroit:

Non-stop via NWA will be about $466 per person, but there are other airlines that are cheaper, its just that they will stop at another airport and it will take quite a few hours. Thats via orbitz.

To book that combination, you may need a travel agent, or book them seperatly, just pay attention between arrival and departure times at LAX and make sure you leave yourself enough time for customs and immigration.

With Kayak.com the cheapest one way is $1715 per person. Child fare is probably cheaper.

Thats about the best I can come up with for July 17th.

I never buy international tickets on-line. I prefer security - and don't find them cheaper.

I ask a trusted travel agent.

Also tickets purchased via a US based travel website for itineraries that begin outside the US will typically be more expensive than using a local resource (such as a travel agent).

YMMV

The best tickets I have found is through Best Travel store. bt-store.com is the website. I have used them three times myself to fly Cathay Pacific wich is by far the best airline. my tickets round trip have ranged from 1200 to 1500 even my last one over easter was only 1250. Best of luck to you. My baby gets to come home on my flyer miles... what a relief.

I check Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, and Hotwire....so far 3 trips and each time booked thru a different site. Christmas time was $1800 round trip, October was $989 r/t, and just this last May was $1011 r/t. I have found that you can get the best rates 8-10 weeks before you intend to fly, but as others have said it appears that flights originating from outside the US are a bit more spendy. I have been researching a flight for my fiance since I found out her interview date and so far the best I can find is around $800 leaving the first week of September for Kansas City.

Since 2 of my flights have gone thru Detroit, a flight originating from there should be cheaper than what I have paid previously
