Hello, nice to meet you all!

So I have an issue I was wondering any of you have dealt with.

A few weeks ago I sent a complete i-485 to the Chicago Lockbox through USPS. USPS then notified me that they had lost my package and did not see that it was ever delivered, I was told that if whatever I sent was important that it would be ideal to send it again and the found package would be returned to me. At this time I had not gotten a receipt notice or text saying that they had received my application so I assumed that it was really just lost in transit.

Turns out the package was actually delivered and the delivery guy who delivered the package just forgot to scan it.

And here lies the issue. About a week ago I sent the entire package again (not knowing the original had arrived) with a letter attached explaining exactly this problem and that if they were to get both packages to please destroy one, as both had the same information.

Turns out they didn't follow that letter and I now I have two receipt numbers for both the original package, and the new one that I had sent. Both of these receipt numbers are for two identical i-485 packages.

I'm going to call the USCIS help line again tomorrow and will explain this situation, but I would like to know if anyone has experienced this (getting two receipt numbers for two identical applications) and what might happen once they realize that there is already a pending and open case for the original i-485.

I have placed a temporary hold on any funds being pulled from my account in hopes that the second cheque will not go through. Will this affect my original application? (they already cashed the cheque on my first package). Im kind of frustrated at the moment as there is no one to contact about this and the USCIS help line agent I spoke to about this issue originally couldn't really help me and basically said "oh okay, if they get your cheque and cash it you won't get a refund", I was not told that they could send an email on my behalf or contact the office in any way so I'm hoping I can tell them to do that tomorrow.

Thank you for your time and I'm anxiously waiting a reply!

Well one thing is sure once they cash the second check you will never get a refund... Your best bet is what you have done already by blocking the second check, usually when you check does not clear they will simply send the package back. You should also try and get in touch with prolly a tier 2 officer and explain your predicament... But am sure blocking the cheque will make them reject the second application.
