Hello,

I applied for B-2 tourist visa and paid $160 fee online thru credit card. I received email confirmation with DS-160 and a voucher to pay additional $160 at the bank. Am I supposed to pay additional fee....? My interview date is not confirmed although I mentioned my tentative date for travel in the first week of March. Also noted there is additional fees of $85 to book a date through website https://www.ustraveldocs.com Please clarify do I have to pay $160+$160+$85= $405 in total to get a visa for a week long stay...?

Thanks in advance.

You only pay the visa fee once.  You are from Vietnam? The payment section of Vietnam ustraveldocs https://www.ustraveldocs.com/vn/vn-niv-paymentinfo.asp says it must be paid at Vietnam Post. Did you do the application through the official website? Who was the credit card fee paid to?

i don’t see anything about a $85 fee to book an appointment through the site, where do you see that?

FYI despite the dodgy sounding name, ustraveldocs.com is the official site to book US visa appointments through for many countries. It is linked to from the official embassy websites. There is a separate part of the website for each country.

I was just surprised to hear about  additional $160 and more that's why decided to post another link for different web site.

I’m rather suspecting the OP landed on a non official site first, which basically acts as a middleman - charged him $160 (I’ve heard of this before - same amount so people think it’s a visa fee) and then refers him to ustraveldocs as he has to go there to do the actual booking. I’ve never heard of ustraveldocs charging for making an appointment so I suspect that $85 is a bogus fee too that ends up with the scammers. That’s why I asked who the credit card payment was received by.

if it is a scam and he paid by credit card, he should be able to contest the charge and get it reversed.

Many thanks for your replies, I came to Canada to visit my uncle and aunt. I wanted to visit my friends in US before returning back to India. I made a mistake instead of using official site for DS160 I booked through en.visausanow.com and the payment went to visa assistance service. I don’t think it’s a scam I received my DS160 completed form with confirmation number AAXXXXXXXX and bank voucher.

I am not sure if I am using the correct website for booking my interview thru www.usvisaapplications.com. Please advice...!

Well, maybe not a total “scam” but you paid $160 for them to put the answers you gave them into the DS160, when you could have done it yourself for free. You still have to pay the $160 visa fee.

No, the website you have there is not an official website either.

The website you need to go to is http://canada.usvisa-info.com - see the official page/links below. Don’t go anywhere else unless it is linked from that site.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/nonimmigrants-present-visiting-canada-mexico.html

Any third country national (TCN)* present in the United States and visitors present in Canada or Mexico who wish to apply for a nonimmigrant visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulates in Canada or Mexico, must make an appointment for an interview. U.S. Consulates are located in Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, Toronto, Vancouver, Ciudad Juarez, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Matamoros, Merida, Mexico City, Monterrey, Nogales, Nuevo Laredo and Tijuana.

Applicants who wish to apply for their U.S. visa in Canada must visit http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ to obtain information about how to start their application for a U.S. visa at a consular section in Canada. Applicants will be required to pay their visa application processing fee prior to scheduling an appointment. Please see the website for additional information.

Its about as close to a scam as you can get. I checked out the site. You still have to enter all the info yourself. Lesson learned
