Hi to all,

my mother has B2 visa and has been to US many times. She has been staying here for 5 months at the time during year and I want to file for her green card, since it makes more sense.

She entered the US two weeks ago, so she is now in US and I want to file while she is in the country.

I am confused to what should I file?

i thought I should file only I-130 with documents required.

can somebody direct please me towards what needs to be done?

thank you!!

5 months a year isn’t enough to maintain residency on a green card, so if she wants to continue doing that then she should continue using a B2. Or does she actually want to live here permanently? In that case look to the top of the page for the link to the guides, you will find the info you need.

She will stay longer to maintain her status (believe is no more than 179 days out of the US).

I am new to the forum. Would you be so kind to tell me where are the guides? And what exactly to look for?

thank you

I was being quite literal. There is a row of links at the top of the page. Click on the one that says “guides”. It’s really very straightforward to find. Under “immigration guides” there is one for “parents of US citizens”.
