Hi All,

I received my NOA1 in December, and estimated NOA2 is in late April.

I am trying to be prepared for the Embassy step of the process for both myself and Fiance in the Philippines.

Is there anything she can do now to have ready for the interview, like police clearance, CFO etc?

And for myself, what kind of paperwork can I start getting ready, I am self employed so I know my taxes will be part of it.

Can I just get copies of my taxes from my accountant or do I need them directly from IRS?

And how many years taxes do they want to see?

What else should I be getting ready?

I searched here for a list of what is needed but come up empty.

Thanks

Rujen

Hi! I am the Italian beneficiary and my fiancé is self employed as well.

Personally, I would wait before gathering the documents, so both you and your fiancé can show the most recent date on them (especially when it comes down to the police report). What I suggest you is to file your taxes asap and figure out the necessary docs as self employed. Also, if you are planning on having a joint sponsor, I would make sure the other person is filing his/her taxes properly. Finally, if you didn't file your taxes is the last two years, I would suggest to catch up with that, because I am pretty sure you have to show the income for the last three years.

As for the tax documentation, a IRS transcript for the most recent three years should be fine, since it is essentially a summary of your tax history and seem more practical than photocopies. I would maybe discuss the matter with your accountant as well; probably he/she can help you with that as well.

I hope it was somehow helpful.

Is there anything she can do now to have ready for the interview, like police clearance, CFO etc?  DID YOUR FIANCEE RESIDE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY FOR 6 MO. OR MORE?  IF YES SHE WILL NEED A POLICE CLEARANCE FROM THAT COUNTRY.     IF NO .. THEN SHE ONLY NEEDS AN NBI.    Details on this in S

And for myself, what kind of paperwork can I start getting ready, I am self employed so I know my taxes will be part of it.  ONLY YOUR MOST RECENT TAX RETURN/TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED

Can I just get copies of my taxes from my accountant or do I need them directly from IRS?  BEING SELF EMPLOYED I WOULD LEAN TOWARD REQUESTING A TAX TRANSCRIPT FROM THE IRS

And how many years taxes do they want to see?  MOST RECENT TAX RETURN  (CURRENTLY THAT IS 2018)

What else should I be getting ready?  LINKS WITH INFO BELOW

I searched here for a list of what is needed but come up empty. Here ya go!   ;)

Thanks

One thing to do is jump over to the Philippines forum with your questions:  https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

Once you receive your NOA2 and your case file is at NVC (2-4 weeks) you will want to email them requesting your case file number, your fiancee will need a copy of the NVC email/letter for the medical at SLEC

Good advise from others on the paperwork requirements as usual.  My advise would be to be patient, save some money, shop for tickets and above all else, the one thing that can bring all planning to a halt is St. Lukes  Hospital.  This has been our biggest obstacle so far.  The Sputum test will stop every thing for at least 8 weeks and there is absolutely no resource even if she tested negative like my Fiance did.   Best of luck....

Yes SPUTUM does put the brakes on things, and for sure there is no way around it.   Some have tried to "outsmart" the system only to run into bigger delays .. like a 1 year wait.

~Do take note~

  • TB sputum; If you had to complete the culture test, keep close track of the visa validity date, as it is tied to the initial medical date, thus you will be short of the 6 months, you may only have 90 to 120 days before the visa expires.
  • TB treatment;  If you have to complete the 6 months of DOT treatment you will have to pay for a second medical fee upon completion.  This will only allow you 90 days to enter the USA.
  • Seeking treatment outside St. Luke's will not save you time with this process, it may very well increase the timeline for completing the medical, as the CDC will require a 1 year wait before completing the medical

but does it take 8 weeks at all embassies>  is there a place to check times for Bangkok?

As said earlier it is a CDC (Center for Disease Control & Prevention) requirement ...  nothing to do with which embassy.
