Good Day! How will this expanded public charge rule affect US visa applicants (immediate relative). Are there any instances in the US embassy denying applicants due to public charge rule especially in the Philippines?

Info on the new rule:

 

That said, that is a DHS rule. It impacts AOS/COS/EOS applicants, not visa applicants.

There is a separate but similar rule for DOS (which handle visas), but that is still not implemented yet at this time. No timeframe is given yet.

 

Yes, at least several thousands of people are denied annually under the existing public charge inadmissibility. Many eventually overcome it - usually via a joint sponsor or a change in their circumstances. Not everybody does.

9/5/18: Interview scheduled notice, 10/17/18: Interview

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand

8/15/2017: POE
