Is is safe to go on the cruise to Mexico if my i751 is pending?

Generally, if you have:

1) valid passport, expired GC and valid extension letter OR

2) valid passport and valid I-551 stamp

3) visa to Mexico (if required)

then you should be fine.

However, based on your previous messages your I-751 was administratively closed. Did you receive a letter? What does it say? What does your case status say on USCIS website?

Hi. I have never received any letters. I think the administrative closure was a mistake. I made an info pass appointment so they can explain me the issue. Case status still says I'm scheduled for an interview for 1y.8 months now.

I need to go on vacation. The anxiety is killing me.

Hello,

I am hoping someone can answer my question.  My husband's extension will expire in May 2023.  How many days before the expiration date can I contact USCIS for an infopass appointment to get his passport stamped with 551.  We have a few months but I feel like we won't get his renewal card for a long time.  I want to be prepared.  I know appointments are hard to get and want to make sure I call with enough time to get an appointment before the expiration date.  Any guidance would be appreciated.

thanks :)

Hi, I just have a question to those who are still waiting. So my 24 months extension will  expire on November, I don’t know if I can still work with an expired extension letter. I already inquired for an Infopass but I got an email saying there are no available appointments at this time. Did anyone have any problems regarding employment? Thank you in advance.

If you have unrestricted Social Security Card and unexpired state ID or driver license, you can show that as proof to your employer. You can alternatively get the ADIT (I-551 stamp) and use that as a proof.

You are the LPR even with expired extension letter, and can continue to work legally while you have your residency status. The status does not expire with Green Card or extension letter expiration.

I filed in August 2020 and I got notified this morning that they are producing my new card.

Literally 2 days ago I finally got an infopass appointment for a I-551 extension stamp in my passport lol.... typical. Oh well maybe other people who filed around August 2020 will finally be seeing updates on their cases now.

Congratulations!  My wife filed just a few days before you and she got a 551 stamp last week.

Are cases moving along at all at YSC? I submitted a SR 30 days ago and no response. I reached out to the congressman and they got no response. I am 28 months in. Is suing really the only option here? I still have 6 months until I can apply for N-400 and then it could take another 12 or more. Seems outrageous.

If anyone had success getting any sort of response from the USCIS I love to to hear it.
