Has anyone had issues when traveling/coming back into the United States using the extension letter? You feedback will be appreciated as I intend to travel for an important family function. Thanks in anticipation

My wife traveled to and from Japan for 2 months starting in June 2021 and didn't have any issues. They questioned her when she came to confirm that she only had a few months left on the extension letter.

I came back from Mexico with the extension letter. No problem whatsoever. No additional questions. The only ‘issue’ of course was that I had to scan my Green Card which of course has expired so I was sent to a secondary place to complete a form and then I just went with my husband to the officer who just glanced at everything and stamped my passport (with a regular stamp). I arrived into Fort Lauderdale.

I had my call back for my InfoPass (I made the call to them on August 30) so I can get my stamp in my passport. I asked about the extension letters and she said she had no information about that so my appointment is on Sept 30 (3 days after my current extension letter expires). The agent said there was absolutely no issue with that slight gap between extension letter expiring and stamp in my passport. She also reminded me that as my case is “within normal processing time” there was no other update other than “your case is still being processed”.

I am glad that you got the call back. YSC seems doing better recently. I hope that your case will be approved soon.

hi everyone my case is pending at YSC since july 2020.

i sent i751 in july 2020 and haven't heard anything since august 2020(fingerprints taken)

anyone has any idea about timeline on similar cases? thank you if you can provide any feedback.

Potomac is processing at 20-22 months on average so you’re well within that time frame. So you could expect it between Feb and April next year. Of course that’s not exact, just average times. They seem to be getting to Jan and Feb 2020 cases at the moment. Mine is March 2020 and I’ve had no change in status since May 2020. When I spoke to the agent to arrange my InfoPass appointment all she said was “your case is still within normal processing times for Potomac”. So stay patient and if you get into the mindset of it being Spring next year then anything earlier will just be a nice surprise 🙂

My 18-month extension expires in less than a month, so I can call USCIS to get the stamp, correct? My NOA date is February 2020, and I know Jan/Feb 2020 people are getting approved now, but in case I don't, I wanted to be safe since I might need it for a new employment soon.

hi Adam, thank you for answer.

i also have a pending n400. would that make any difference in the timeline? is there any chance that i could be done with i751 sooner than expected time frame?

I genuinely don’t know. It’s certainly possible. Or maybe it makes the n-400 faster than usual. I’ve heard many or even most people on here end up with joint interviews for both I-751 and n-400.

I would say so. I had my InfoPass appointment yesterday and got my I-155 stamp in my passport. It was very quick and easy. I just showed them my green card and my drivers licence and of course my passport. I heard the lady at the counter ask the person before me to show their extension letter but although I had mine she didn’t ask to see it. My stamp is valid for 1 year. As long as you’re within 30 days of the expiration date on your extension letter you can call for an InfoPass appointment. They have 30 days to respond to you and then they will schedule your appointment. My letter expired on 9/27 and my appointment wasn’t until 9/30 but USCIS doesn’t see that as any kind of issue. I had to update my employer with my I-155 stamp and they also did not question why one had expired before I got the other.

Awesome! Guess you don’t need that InfoPass appointment after all 🙂My biometrics were applied the same day as yours (although my NOA date is about 4 weeks after yours). So I’m now going to be checking every day with a slight increase in anticipation lol

Yes, I was just about to call them when I received the notification. Super relieved about that. Good luck with yours!
