"Your" instead of "you're" is my particular bug bear. But....I also understand that on some websites English isn't a first language, so I tend to reserve my irritation for people that I KNOW have English as a first language. There is no excuse for them, others I can give a little lee-way to.

I atttribute some of this anomaly to "fumbling fingers" on the keyboard, more than incorrect usage. However, there are significant examples of misuse.

The loose/lose thing is one of (if not #1) the most common grammar errors. You're/your is probably the second. Both irritate me. Anyone who uses "loose" for lose is automatically labeled an idiot in my mind, and I disregard anything else they say. But then, I'm a grammar nazi.

Exactly, a lot of foreigners on this site. My sister-in-law who has lived in Montana for 35 years emails me often, and every 10th word is either misspelled or misused. Nice try Steven, but its a losing battle.

My pet peeve -- the word 'alot'. There actually is no such word, but it is used often, and should be a word.

I like when people correct me, 'cus English is not my native language and there's always room to learning. Actually, there's room to learning even in my own language.

I may have messed up loose and lose before but I usually catch it in time before adding the post, if any have passed, sorry, but I did know the difference between them.

I am one of those people that need to type up both ways of a word and then I can see which one is correct.

I do think the English native speakers here should cut some slack on grammar since A LOT of us are the foreign, not the american.

My VJ-specific pet peeve has to be the many and varied forms of 'fiance/fiancee' that I see all over the place. I SWEAR 'finace/finacee', and worse still 'finance/financee' (?!) appear more often on here than the correct spellings. If there's one word you'd think a K-1 applicant would learn, it's that one...

Oh, another one that gets me is 'congradulations'. It makes my toes curl with horror...

I'm sure this post is 'hypocracy' in the extreme, as I'm typing in the dark whilst trying to (quietly) eat corn-on-the-cob and not wake my snoring husband, so I'm not paying much attention. Apologies if this is just one big typo-fest...

I do mix those up sometimes ( Lose/loose) But I am a native French and still learning!

I admit that in French I've always been really focused on my grammar, and I always try to write it appropriately in English. Their, they're, there, Your, You're, etc I always think about it a lot to make sure the words are in accordance with the sentence So I'm sad to read that even native English don't really care about it.

Also that new tendency in the chatting world to abbreviate or change all the words to sound more "cool" , thats really bad IMO.

Oh man! I teach English and it drives me insane when kids write their papers thus:

He told me to meet him l8r at the beach. Ur not gonna believe what he did next! N/m, u prolly dont wanna know. IDK, do u?! LOL.

It's creative, I'll grant them that much, but in a formal narrative....not so much.

I may have just shot myself in the foot by admitting that I teach English.....

But also, I wasn't directing my grammar/typo comments to the non-native English speakers. My fiance (finance...hee hee hee) uses a few words wrong or spells them incorrectly in English, and he's fluent. I would NEVER presume to mock someone's command of a language that isn't their first. Hell, you could have at me in my attempts at writing German (poorly) or Spanish (good, but not like my English).

Oh talking about English. I have trouble to pronounce some words. I can't make it right for some words for example ; "sheet" and "sh!t". Couple days ago Dan taught me the right way to pronounce "Cutlery". Took 2 days to to get it right.
