I have an uncle who is a little too enthusiastic about kissing all of us cousins. He said it's an Irish thing but, ummmmm, he has other siblings who do not do this at all. 🙄 My mom, for one. We all duck Uncle Tim at family events. 

 

Maybe Biden is claiming it's an Irish thing too? :P

Maybe. My Uncle Tim is 60ish. My mom's the oldest of six, I think he's number three in the pack. My grandfather (all Irish) wasn't a sloppy kisser, and my grandmother (Irish and German) isn't either. But my grandfather did smoke nasty little cigars which made regular pecks on the cheek gross.

 

I let my mom peck me on the lips, and that's it for close relatives.

That would be pretty taboo in my family lol. We were always quite reserved, but at family gatherings is where you had to encounter all the crazy people trying to kiss you.
