I have an appointment with the TX DPS tomorrow. My first DL expired on the same day like my I-94 (March 23 2020) which I was more than upset about. I surrendered my German DL which costs $2500 and didn't have an expiration date.

They said they are going to issue a new one which will expire on the same day like my EAD which is in April 2021. My EAD is my proof of lawful presence, they say.

Any other TX DPS experiences during AOS

Same in Mississippi when it comes to expiration dates. Next one would be valid till the expiration of the 2 year Greencard.

Did I get this right? Surrendering your German license cost you $2500?? Why is that? Is that a new thing? The first time I surrendered my German license in 2014 it was completely free. I only paid the Texas DL fee.

No. Getting that license cost them that much. There was no cost for surrendering it. It's just the feeling of surrendering something that valuable.

Yes, that is what I was trying to say ;)

Nope no changes here either. However my social security card had just arrived! And i received my paper approvals over the weekend

No update still 🤷‍♀️

called USCIS today and they gave the generic “it could take up to 60 days” spiel. But good thing is he said there was nothing holding up my case, it just hadn’t been mailed
