That’s not exactly true. My husband sent all of his AOS package information via UPS and received a text notification within a few days.

This is what @Donald120383 was referring too, the special instructions of the G-1145. The misunderstanding is probably that, from the different addresses, it seems like UPS/ FedEx... won't deliver to the lockbox and that's why one won't get text messages when using those carriers.

But in fact, everything sent there will end up at the lockbox so everybody potentially can get messages. Though we all know, sometimes one still won't get any notifications even with an attached G-1145. That just happens.

UPS and FedEx DO deliver to the lockbox for I-485. Maybe theres some confusion between the terms "PO Box" and "Lockbox" ?

USCIS Chicago Lockbox -

For U.S. Postal Service (USPS):

USCIS
PO Box 805887
Chicago, IL 60680-4120

For FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries:

USCIS
Attn: FBAS
131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60603-5517

Both deliver to the Lockbox

We sent package off today! (14th, I'm just up late). We procrastinated for someone long but it actually wasn't that bad to get together once you figure out what you need.

Also, I didn't think you could get SSN if trying to get it after the 90 days?  Reading this thread makes me feel like I might?

Typically for people coming from a K1 you need a valid I-94 to apply for a SSN. So once that expires after 90 days you`ll most likely have to wait for EAD or Green Card whichever is first.

I'm new to this thread. We've applied for an AOS, from K1 visa. USPS says it was delivered on January 2, 2020 to Chicago Lock box. Still haven't received an NOA and they haven't cashed the check yet!

For NOA it can take anywhere from 1 day to 30 days. This seems to be very inconsistent by USCIS in sending out receipts.

duh

This site is full of great information, sometimes too much information :) . I just can't help but feeling jealous when I see the masses that got theirs within 3 days and here we are two weeks later with nothing.

Yes Lockbox is a generic definition but the above PO BOX is actually a box where your petitions are delivered while the address for Fedex is actually the USCIS office address.  The definition of lockbox is ambiguous here

Package sent today. Wishing everyone lots of luck and for a smooth and speedy process. 🤩🤞🏽 When times get tough and we feel impatient, let’s remind ourselves we are so lucky to finally be with our loved ones during this wait ❤️ ... the best is yet to come! 🥳

NOA1’s received in the mail today with a date marked 01.10.20 🙂

Keeping warm in the VERY wintery northwest in Washington state. The dog (Duke) is keeping me company while my husband works and I’m now patiently waiting for the arrival of my biometrics appointment. 😃

Where is everyone else waiting and how are you all keeping busy? 🙃

Yeah awesome 🎉

Gulf Coast Mississippi with a high of 72° today 😁 I'm trying to get our frontyard in order and still painting the rooms in our house. And of course I'm taking long naps cause it's the first time that I'm unemployed since I was 16 and so far I do enjoy it 😂😂

It seems like that might take a while for USPS to get there 😉

Respect to you. It's a huge step for all of us moving to a different country but moving up there... wow. I will never complain again about my 20min walk to the next Dollar General 😂

AOS Packet sent: 1/10/2020

AOS Packet received: 1/13/2020

Text Notification: 1/16/2020

Oh & FYI my husband & I attempted to go obtain a SSN for him in Houston, TX & after waiting for nearly 3 hours, we were informed that their policy is to wait at least 21 days from entry date on I-94 to issue a SSN, no exceptions. So that was a huge waste of time.🙃

what? hmm that's weird, never hear that one before. try going to a different office but now that he's married his status might give him issues with obtaining it. but 3 hours?? wow, i never wait more than 30 min, try going on a wed next time, and don't be one of the early birds, we tried that the first time, it was a waste of time(2 hours) to find out it wasn't in order. it's by what you are there for.
