I got my first job offer today!! Hooraayy!! While I am not going to accept their first offer I was wondering what could still happen that they would not be able to hire me because of some USCIS bs. I am still concerned about all the background checks and because we don't have a greencard but just an EAD which seems to have a lower value to some employers. I don't have anything to hide and no entries in my police records, and the offer is from a large global company with more than 60K employees.

Congratulations on your job offer. Can you be gracious enough to share some tips on how to get an offer.  I have submitted over 50 applications with just 1 interview. (the recruitment ended up being called off due to covid). I think I might be doing something wrong cos I seem not to be getting any feedback from recruiters.

Hello everyone! I've been trying to keep up with this thread since the beginning. Recently I saw many posts about expedition, and I have some questions regarding that. Those who requested an expedition, did you guys prove some kind of financial difficulty? Or was a job offer alone enough for approval of your expedition request? If you proved that you're in trouble financially, what did you give them as proofs? Bank statements, loss of a job?

I wasn't looking for jobs as I didn't have my EAD yet. But recent news about NBC lay offs, the quarantine and all the expedite conversation here made me think that maybe I'm making a mistake. My husband and I are not in a very difficult situation financially, but we're still poor in San Francisco! It'd be awesome if I could get my EAD and start making some money.

He won't need the SSN until he accepted a job offer and wants to get paid 😊

He can apply as much as he want to. Get a job offer, get the EAD expedited with it and hopefully he'll receive his SSN about a week after the EAD so that he can start working.

ok Thank You. We will be doing that today

No, not needed. I called USCIS to request an expedite and they will read out some answers for you to select from. Picked financial hardship and didn't explain myself any further. I sent them the job offer and a nice cover letter saying that my spouse's job is in danger because of Covid-19 and that I can't wait to become a tax payer. That was enough.

Follow this thread, lots of information in there. Will answer all of your questions. Good luck!

Hey, sorry to intrude in the conversation as I am an April filer but I was wondering how long does it take to get the EAD after requesting expedite/sending them the offer letter? I am in contact with a few recruiters but I am struggling to explain to them what is happening and when I could be able to work if I get offered a job... Thanks very much in advance. :)

So I went to the store this morning to fill about 176943 pages of information for the background check. Tried to remember a supervisors name from 19 years ago ( I didn't 😂) and now I'm waiting again. Hope the checks resolve quickly. Kinda worried how that turns out since all my history is in Germany.

Thanks a lot. I'll check this! One final question: There is no reason for requesting an expedite without a job offer, right?

Thanks, seems like good news for those workers and the petitions they are processing.

I have basically given up hope though. Today is the day I need to hand in my notice to my supervisor to ensure a smooth transition to someone new in my role. Unfortunately, having an approved expedite isn't enough for them. I need to have the card on hand. I hope you face better luck!

Nooooooo. No! This news is absolutely crushing. I can’t understand why your employer wouldn’t at least tell you to come back when you have the card - shouldn’t be longer than 2 weeks. Like, you’ve already been working for them. Also, they should be a little understanding that the COVID situation has basically screwed everyone and it’s not for a lack of trying.

gimme their number - I’ll tell them!! Joking. But seriously. This. Isn’t. Fair. 😡

Call your Senate. Call your Congressman. They have the ability to back you on this and push it. Call anyone. I’m seriously outraged.
