I was actually expecting to get an interview appointment letter end April/ early May. Little did I know back then 😂

At least I can say that my EAD expedite got approved and EAD/ AP are both now on case approved.

Congrats!! What evidence did you submit?

The (huge) company I got an offer from, and the reason I left my steady job in late Feb, delayed onboarding for six weeks before finally rescinding my offer last week. Wasn’t expecting it from one of the top tech fives 😔

Now I’m suddenly unemployed and my husband doesn’t have his EAD.

Is the letter of explanation all you provided?

Also did you call the call center to initiate the expedite and then fax documents? How long did the whole process take?

That's so awesome!! Congratulations on the approval. And THANK YOU for your positive, funny and uplifting energy. It's much appreciated and one of my favorite parts of being part of the January filers! 🌈🧚‍♀️

Awww thank you so much. That's so sweet 😍

I'm glad about all of you in our little group. It's good to have somebody who's going through the same stuff and knows how you feel. My husband is awesome and supporting but he doesn't like paperwork and this process is a bit too much for him 😂

Haha same 😄 (About the expectation, not the EAD expedite haha) We‘ll be alright this whole thing is not gonna last forever :) Wouldn’t be surprised if it actually starts moving forward again and the dates get better and better @beefmaster . Besides, we’re all getting our Greencard before August, remember? 😁🌈🧡

Absolutely. This thread gets closed by the end of August because we're all done 😁

No way! This sucks so much. I'm so sorry.

My husband gets deployed soon and I can't get a drivers license without EAD so I told them what would happen if I don't have a DL by the time he leaves. Like not being able to get food, medication, go and see doctors if needed...

But I remeber another topic where somebody wrote that they told them about the bills they had to pay and provided those bills as evidence and they got their EAD approved even without a job offer. I feel it's a long shot but worth a try. I called USCIS on a Friday and got approved exactly two weeks later.

Oh man! Well then to be honest ours likely won’t get approved. All that happened is I lost my job, and we live with my mom currently so can’t really show any bills either. Guess I will just have to trudge on and get out there! Just wish the job market wasn’t such a hot mess.

Update from my side: I got my new social security card today with my new last name. I am pleasantly surprised that this has worked so well. I got my EAD last week (expedited) and they managed to use the same SSN that I got 13 years ago when I was here on a J1 aupair visa.

Lessons learned today: I talked to a recruiter, and she asked if I have a greencard. I said no and explained what the EAD is. Next time I will just say yes and save us the time it takes for explanation. I assume she wanted to figure out if I need visa sponsorship which I do not of course. I feel like this whole EAD topic is just confusing for HR people...

ROC Timeline:

2023-02-20: Mailed package to Phoenix Lockbox with UPS Ground

2023-02-27: Package was delivered

2023-03-02: Received text that case was received with SRC case #

2023-03-03: Money order was cashed

2023-03-09: Received 48 months extension letter in mail

2023-05-20: Greencard expired

2024-10-04: Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken

2024-10-07: New Card Is Being Produced

congrats and omg I could not agree more about the whole immigration jargon. It’s amazing that employers have no idea what an EAD is. And the ‘buzz word’ appears to be Green Card  - but I feel like they don’t know what that entails either. All they wanna know is “are you legal to work, will you need sponsorship, and do you have proof?”  That’s been my experience.

Yes, I absolutely agree. Greencard is the buzz word that they want to hear, and they get from me what they want to hear so I can reach my goal ;)

Yup. Me too. I’m the same. Except I don’t have EAD or GC - but I get what they are getting at. I explain to them that with a job offer it’ll be no issue (expedition)

After getting my EAD last week I received a SS card today. Problem is: I already have one 🙈

I hoped they would have just updated my existing one with my married name but no, a complete different one.

Guess I have to go to the SSA whenever they open again and give it back.

Today My Parents received emails notifying them of I130 approval. The filed I130 and I485 concurrently. How long after the I130 approval will they have to wait for the I485?

All of us here are adjusting from a K1 Visa and don't need the I-130. You might find more help in the other topic where people are adjusting from other Visa types

Are your parents here in the U.S?
