For sure. The written offer should be on its way very shortly if you have already gotten verbal confirmation.

otherwise you can always specifically ask for it! You don’t have to do the I-9 until after the offer is given.

did they tell you when you need to complete the I9 by?

Nothing about the I-9 as of yet. Was more of just a “ok, so we have chosen you as a suitable candidate for this position, etc etc. we are trying to figure out a start date and find out if you’re able to legally work” to which I responded: “with a written offer I can sent to DHS for an expedite and I should be all set”.

reallllly wanted to make it seem as uncomplicated as possible for fear that they would consider me “too high maintenance”.

Anyone receive a letter from DHS/National Benefits Center today?

I saw there is a letter coming from them for my husband through USPS Informed Delivery but his EAD/AP statuses haven't changed.

I am thinking maybe it has to do with the virus? I don't know why I feel so nervous

Sending positive vibes. Maybe it’s good news. Did you already get the update that “finger prints were applied” letter that so many of us received about 2 weeks ago?

I didn't! That must be it because my status for AP changed to that recently.

Seems like the estimated dates for AP/EAD are getting further and further away every time I get an update about it. Very concerning/discouraging.

hope everyone is keeping healthy.

Yeah I noticed. Weird because surely they're all working on those while working from home? Or maybe they're not allowed for data protection reasons to take it home. I know with my UK job, we weren't allowed to take person data home.

My cases are still "fingerprints were taken". This all just makes the long wait longer!

USCIS is usually doing a lot of home office from what I know but who knows how things are going right now and on what they prioritize.

Same here... On Friday I joined a free webinar about job search from a local job consulating company. I found the webinar on Nextdoor and the company provides assistance with resume review, interview preparation etc. I asked the owner when I should start applying for jobs, estimating that my EAD will come some time in May, and she said right now! Even if it happens that I won't have the EAD by then, it will help me establish a network. Recruiters might remember me when they have new positions to fill at a later point. What do you guys think about this? I am afraid I might upset companies when I apply and they invite me to an interview just to find out that I don't have my EAD yet. Many job listings say that they only accept applications from candidates that are legally authorized in the US; sometimes they even mention that only Greencard holders or US citizens should apply. I have applied for a job with BASF US some time ago and they have an online questionnaire. When I hit the "No" button to answer the question whether or not I am legally allowed to work in the US I immediately received an email that they cannot consider my application at this point. My gut feeling tells me to wait a bit until sending first applications, but my business mind wants to start right away :D

In the meantime, I am reading the book "How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Profile" to become more visible for recruiters... Really enjoying it so far! In my home country we don't really use LinkedIn that much or only to a very small extent...

Stay safe and healthy everybody!

I think that's quite a German thinking. Being scared to annoy and upset somebody. I'm the same and it's weird to read that company's expect one to call and follow up after applications instead of waiting for them 😁

I think you should follow the advice and start applying at least where you can. And you can always tell them that you probably would be able to expedite your EAD with a job offer if they want you earlier. I think with the situation right now it won't get easier to get a job so it's probably smart to start now.

I put a little bet out here. I bet that by the end of next week we'll have 3 EADs in our little group. Who's in?
